ROAD TO HELL WORTH THE TRIP

3/25/2015

Many times I’ve driven the I-15 with its traffic accidents and congestion and thought of it as the road to hell. However, that highway pales when compared to the concrete stretch of horror and murderous mayhem filmmaker Albert Pyun has created on screen with his 50th film ROAD TO HELL.

The action-fantasy feature was inspired by Walter Hill’s cult classic STREETS OF FIRE and began shooting in Los Angeles in June 2008. Although it had its world premiere at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Austin, Texas in October of that year the film has undergone several edits and revisions since. As a result although it had other screenings such as at the Patio Theater on March 9, 2013 and a Las Vegas screening during the PollyGrind Film Festival in 2012 it wasn’t until recently that the film found a distributor. “I wasn’t going to let this one go out until I felt I had done everything possible. So many of my films were wrenched away before I finished them to my satisfaction. Not this time. Plus, I didn’t need for the film to help my career or earn money so for the first time in my life, I could focus on making the best version of the story I wanted to tell,” Albert explained.

From Director Albert Pyun (Cyborg), Dangerously Close focuses on The Sentinels, the self-proclaimed teenage guardians of their high school.  Weeding out those they deem unfit, their gang-like activity is questioned after a student winds up dead.  When the school newspaper editor, Donny Lennox (J. Eddie Peck, The Young and the Restless), seeks the truth, The Sentinels up their aggressive ante to a whole new level.  John Stockwell (Christine), Carey Lowell (Law & Order), Madison Mason (Dreamscape), Bradford Bancroft (3:15) and Dedee Pfeiffer (The Horror Show) co-star.

he world’s most ambitious example of fan fiction, as an accredited veteran director, Albert Pyun, leads with his chin and his heart as he fashions an unauthorized follow-up to Walter Hill’s Streets of Fire, a film few saw upon first release but many have grown to love in the 30 years since its initial unveiling. 411 MANIA ROAD TO HELL REVIEW

Road to Hell, the fiftieth movie from legendary director Albert Pyun, is a strange bit of a cinema, and I mean that in a good way. It’s a sort of sequel/spin-off of Walter Hill’s 1984 effort Streets of Fire, and in the same sense it’s its own thing, a movie that’s sort of inspired by Streets of Fire. It’s a surreal head trip, a movie that isn’t straight forward and exists as a kind of weird fever dream. It clearly isn’t for everyone but, if you’re a movie nerd and you’re willing to take a chance with something decidedly different, Road to Hellis something you should look out for. - Click here to read full article.

We want to thank everybody who came to last night's screening. My health took a bit of a dive so I couldn't interact. It was cold out here in Vegas and it affected me. AMC was outstanding as always. Very caring and professional theater chain. I'm very happy with our presentation of the film. I would also like to thank Nick Benson for all his assistance with the event. I feel honored and grateful that he would do this for us and the film. Nick's a very gifted special make up effects artist and his work helped pull Road to Hell together. Thank you Nick. Hopefully all of you who saw it feels the same. It was great seeing Roxy Gunn and the entire Roxy Gunn Project band at the screening. Hope everyone who attended enjoyed themselves last night. - Albert.
