![]() When the film was released in August 1987, the film had a very soft opening, coming in at No.3 on its first weekend, with a $4,883,168 opening. Despite that, a sequel was prepped, particularly after the famous “I’ll be back!” after-credits reappearance of Langella’s Skeletor. Click here to read full article.

Finished mastering KNIGHTS but replace main title with the title I originally had for the film before it was changed by Kings Road. We mastered this director's cut from a full frame 16 x 9 picture on a Beta Sp tape. This was my check copy back in 1992 of the sound mix. I remember the day I left with the tape because I had a lot of concerns about the mix because Tony Riparetti and I had a constant running argument with Kings Road CEO Steve Friedman. I mean screaming matches as we mixed. It was also my first film edited digitally on a system using laser discs. So I had a lot of concerns and misgivings. I wanted to see the picture with the mix to see if I could live with the film. Hence that's the source. I changed the main title to my original title for the film. Along with a detailed backstory we were never permitted to shoot. Here's the terrific DVD cover courtesy of Glenn Cochrane. At this point standard Def DVD's only will be available of this director's cut. The commentary is really informative I think. - Albert.

ELECTRIC BOOGALOO: THE WILD, UNTOLD STORY OF CANNON FILMS ... from director Mark Hartley (Not Quite Hollywood, Patrick) and featuring Albert Pyun makes its world premier at the Melbourne International Film Festival on August 2. For the love of Albert, get along!! Tickets will go fast and it's not to be missed. If you live in Melbourne you have no excuse!
![]() The KNIGHTS DC will also be finished early next week. With my commentary as well. The story and plot are clearer in the DC and it moves faster, more the way I had planned before the final cut was done for Paramount and Kings Road which slowed the pace and overly explained the plot. Most of the awkward beats due to the slowed pacing is gone. The film plays smoother and more fun at a faster pace. I think the DC improves Kathy Long's performance and is more how her and I imagined the "Nea" character. Of course, I have much to say in the commentary bout working with Kris Kristofferson, Scott Paulin and Lance Henriksen. - Albert I'm putting together Nemesis 2, 3 and 4 into the single film I had originally enivisioned. Unfortunately, the way the financing package worked, I had to shoot the sprawling story in a fractured way (3 films instead of 1 film). This film ties directly into the original Nemesis film. So this Nemesis 2 begins with Olivier Gruner being killed and his DNA was saved and later Sue Price was the result. Sue's DNA is programmed to destroy humans, but she mutates in ways the cyborgs don't anticipate. Anyway, it will be finished by Monday. - Albert
I can’t even say how many times I’ve watched Nemesis since I first discovered it on tape, and like with many other movies it’s been an interesting road from that crappy fullscreen, low resolution version to the glorious HD version in correct ratio that premiere just a few weeks ago. I’ve been a fan of director Albert Pyun as long as I can remember, and I tried so many times in the dawn of the Internet to find him, to mail him, to talk to him. I guess I was a little stalker at the time! I didn’t succeed, until he showed up and became a fan favorite on Facebook and since then - and some years before that - people have slowly started to recognize his talents. But I was the first one to appreciate him for real, in a non-ironic way. Don’t forget that. Click here for full article.
I am feeling better, though not out of the woods yet and certainly not feeling "good" yet, but I feel well enough to jump back into finishing and screening films. Not well enough to shoot but well enough to complete new wide screen director's cuts of Down Twisted, Radioactive Dreams and, perhaps, Dangerously Close. All with Commentary. I am also completing screening masters for THE INTERROGATION OF CHERYL COOPER which is definitely one of my best movie efforts. We will likely screen it in Las Vegas as traveling is out for me for the near future. Completed the definitive ROAD TO HELL version as well. - Albert.
