I started a file export this morning before heading to the clinic. I got to say, its a thrill to see that the frame size is 5120x2880. Michael Su and I will have a many options for the final screen aspect ratio and composition. And the color depth that Red Raw provides makes one giddy about final color grading. The drawback is you need a lot of terabytes to work with your film at this resolution. Right now I have 11 Terabytes connected to do the cut (I'm only on scene 3!) and I'm sure this project will push me into needing more than 40 TB. That's a LOT of terabytes. I know Tony is expecting to have as many as 400 tracks for some of the music cues which have ambience as part of the music. Good thing dementia doesn't affect my memory! LOL... - ALBERT
I must say, the cast and the crew of Interstellar were really patient with me. I know having a director with early on set Dementia couldn't have been easy. Special kudos to Justin Lee Giffen and Michael Su for keeping the shoot running smoothly even when blanked out on where I was and who were all these people. The episodes were brief, thank god. I'm paying the price now however. I've had several seizures since we wrapped. And intense pain and stiffness has forced me to bed. But it's worth it to have had the chance to work with this cast and crew. - ALBERT.
We still have the aerial shooting to do and a day of pick ups I'm sure, once the first cut is done. The entire film shot at 5k! Amazing. Michael Su surpassed himself with this! Easily the most artistic and gifted cinematographer in the west. Would not trade him for anyone else. - ALBERT
After spending the better part of 2016 taking care of his health, Albert has returned to the studio to continue work on his upcoming film INTERSTELLAR CIVIL WAR. With co-direction from his trusted cinematographer, Michael Su, Albert's production sped into overdrive over the past week, which saw an astonishing 100 pages shot. There is still a way to go but fans can rest assured that Albert is in his element and the film is on its way.

I think that in the years to come, people who love genre films will talk about the incredibly fruitful collaboration I had with Michael Su. He takes cares of me in so many ways and makes these films possible with his knowledge and skill as a filmmaker and his unequaled eye to capture what I have in my mind. He is an enabler of artistic vision. And I am so lucky to have his shoulder to lean on. Michael Su and I will have an incredibly fruitful and unforgettable partnership, by far, the most important of my entire career. He has a kind heart and generous spirit. I hope each of the filmmakers out there are lucky enough to have a chance to work WITH Michael Su or at least find yourself a Michael Su.

In casting these parts which are leads, I approached actresses I knew from past films (Roxy Gunn, Joei Fulco, Victoria Maurette) but either budget or availability made the deal not work. We originally had Tahnee Harrison for Abrami-Kenedi but dates were bad. However, it all worked up in the end. We have three uber talented actresses who create complex layers to the their characters. None are like characters I think anyone has seen before in the context of the genre. Think Only God Forgives and the Immortals. All three perform the type of roles English actors seem to play. - ALBERT
We have three days of filming left. One is an aerial drone shoot on a desert location with Dan Ciraulo and his Dark Path Films who I find to be Las Vegas' (and maybe Nevada's) finest visual effect and aerial production company. Reasonable rates which deliver quality and first rate creative shots. No challenge seems to great or difficult for Dark Films to deliver. Our second day of filming is to clean up bits and pieces of the 100 pages we shoot. A staggeringly great cast really pulled off a miracle! I'm very proud of all of them, Paul Gunn as Sgt. Lobo Katz, Brad Thornton as Captain Jedediah Starslayer Burk, Nathan Ferrier as Corporal Mac McQuarrie, Cat Cakmis for constantly delivering never less than a remarkable nuance and talent throughout and particularly Ashley Campbell who gives a layered performance that anchored all. Two newcomers, Jennie Carroll as Abrami-Kenedi and Clare Hoak as Ren-Bergman were astonishing (no bullshit) as was one of my favorites,Tommie Vegas as An-Jo who I knew would deliver. I tired and still feeling the effects of the shoot. With Michael Su, shooting and co-directing, when I faltered or got brain confused, the shoot had a great leader. Justin Lee Giffen ran the shoot smoothly and professionally, even though I made his job as Line Producer / First AD difficult because of my inability to communicate or think clearly at times. Jacki Heston headed the make up and hair department brilliantly no matter how many changes I through her way. Alberto Triana was a resourceful and first class sound recordist and had the personality to keep the cast and crew safe and feeling confident. Tyki Sato was simply a gifted filmmaker who kept the entire machine moving in so many film disciplines. I know Michael would agree that Tyki's skill and talent that held the shoot together. Brilliant young man. And to my dear wife and producer, Cynthia Curnan, without whom I would not have got this opportunity to make a movie one more time! I am very grateful to them and to the support of a great group of interns across four departments! - ALBERT
